The history of St Augustine is marked by violence. Those were brutal times. There were pirates, famines, illnesses, enemies and pandemics that would constantly threat the lives of early residents of the colony. Life must have been very tough. As a consequence, many perished in dramatic ways. This can help explain the amount of sites that claim to have uninvited guests including the Castillo de San Marcos, The St Augustine Lighthouse and even Flagler College where the students assure that Henry Flagler still roams the halls of his beloved Ponce de Leon Hotel.
